Neighbourhood information

Our complex opened its doors as a family-run hotel apartment enterprise in 1983. As one of the oldest establishments in the area, it was one of the very first pioneers of the then fledgling tourist industry of Protaras. Now, Leucolla Hill & Sea is operated by the third generation of the same family, offering a fulfilling experience to the demands of the modern tourist, underpinned with the ethos of traditional Cypriot hospitality and the wisdom of our forebears.
Leucolla Hill & Sea sits on the foothill of Protaras, the hill from which the area derives its name. From this position, our apartments are at the crossroads of local geography and history. Fig Tree Bay, the famous golden beach of Cyprus (with its islet) and the alleged site of the ancient town of Leucolla, is only 250m away. The popular beaches of Vrysi, Sunrise and Vyzakia are also within short walking distance. A wide variety of restaurants, taverns, bars and cafes cater for every taste. Shops and markets provide local delicacies and souvenirs to take home. A famous landmark of the area is the chapel of Prophet Elias, built on a rocky outcrop. This “acropolis” offers breath-taking 360° views of green hills, red-soil fields, the bustling town and even the Karpasia peninsula fading into the Mediterranean sea. Also, the Cape Greco National Park with its popular nature trail is easily accessible. Cape Greco, one of the purported birthplaces of Aphrodite according to local legends, is the south-easternmost land point of Cyprus and Europe. In the forest hill areas near us, many secret, secluded churches (some even in caves!) are waiting to be found in the many nature trails available.
